Edward M. Dolan
Nov 19th, 2023
Edward M. Dolan passed away at home on November 19th in a house built by his great, great grandfather, Benjamin Gorham. Edward was proud to call himself a native Cape Codder and lived the majority of his life in the village of Yarmouth Port.
He was the son of James and Margaret (Buresh) Dolan. He went to Dennis-Yarmouth Regional High School, graduating in 1980. While in school, Edward could be found in the hallways and at all events with his camera, taking pictures for the school yearbook for which he was editor.
After high school, Edward attended Boston College and received his bachelors degree in 1984. Continuing on at Boston College Law School, Edward earned his law degree in 1988. After passing the Massachusetts Bar exam, he practiced law on Cape Cod for a time. In later years, Edward became a driver for the Cape Cod Regional Transit Authority. He served as Vice President of his union, using his law degree to be of service to those who needed assistance.
His passions included dogs and Halloween. Ed was seen walking his dogs on the quiet streets of Yarmouthport or stopping his bus to deliver a treat to a lucky pup on his route. Annually, he shared his large collection of Halloween decorations, baked dozens of famous cupcakes, and dressed in full costume to entertain the children who came to the Halloween Haunt in his beloved village.
He will be greatly missed by his sisters and brothers in law, Mary and David Major, Amy and Peter Galvin, Katie Dolan and his most loved dog, Chuck. He is survived by his nieces and nephews who will cherish all of their memories of Uncle Ed.
A memorial service will be held by the family in the spring and donations may be made in Edward’s name to the MSPCA or your favorite dog rescue organization.
