Nancy L. Walker
Nov 11th, 2023
Nancy (Bloxsom) Walker, 99, passed away peacefully at Maplewood at Brewster Senior Living on November 11, 2023. Born in Huntington, Long Island, NY, she was the daughter of the late A. William and Catherine (Giblin) Bloxsom. She was a very special person, and an excellent student. She valued education and believed that learning was an everyday part of one’s life. She loved people of all ages and had a generous and kind nature to everyone she met.
Nancy was a devout Catholic and faithful parishioner at Saint Pius X Parish. Nancy went to daily Mass until her health began to fail. She prayed for everyone and had a special love for the Blessed Mother. She lived in the time of the greatest generation and during those war years she worked in the Grumman plant assembling parts for aircraft. She started her college education but delayed it when her father died unexpectedly, and she stayed home to help her mother for a year. She excelled in college and received her degree in elementary education and eventually continued on to earn a Master of Education degree.
Nancy loved children and loved to see them succeed. She taught for thirty-three years in the Ardsley New York Schools working with kindergarten and first graders. It often happened that parents would request that their child be placed in Nancy’s class. After retiring from education, she moved to Cape Cod, a place she enjoyed for many years. She met her husband Joseph Walker who was also a retired teacher, and they shared a full and happy marriage traveling to Ireland, Scotland, England and a guided tour through Egypt, Jerusalem and much of the Holy Land.
Nancy was a beloved aunt of the family. She was the Godmother to three grand nephews, Mike, Dave, and Tom Earley. She loved them and they loved her. There was great excitement when the boys knew that they were on a visit to the cape to see Aunt Nancy. It meant the beach, great food and plenty of fun.
She is missed and we are sad, but we can have happy hearts knowing and celebrating a long and wonderfully lived life. God Bless Aunt Nancy.
Nancy was predeceased by her parents A. William and Catherine (Giblin) Bloxsom, brother William Bloxsom, sisters Mary and Dorothy Bloxsom and niece Mary (Glynn) Earley. Nancy leaves behind her nephew, John Earley; grand nephews Thomas and his wife Heather (Clark) Earley, David Earley and his wife Maykel Marrero, Michael Earley and his wife Sandra Cinquini; cousins in Ireland, Eugene Giblin and his wife Assumta (Hannon) Giblin, Mauve (Giblin) and her husband John Craughwell, Josephine Giblin, Patrick Giblin and his wife Carmel (Corless) Giblin as well as many second cousins.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 25, 2023 from 9:30am to 10:30am in the Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Ave, South Yarmouth, MA. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00am at Saint Pius X Parish, Station Ave, South Yarmouth, MA. A private family burial will be held in Saint Patrick’s Cemetery on Long Island.

Guest Book
Nancy was a beloved member of our SPX "Renew family" for the past 20 years. Her insightful reflections on the scriptures and willingness to share her faith were an inspiration to young and old alike. I have no doubt that she is with our other friends Luke, Bill and Mary in the company of the angels and saints. May God grant her soul eternal peace.
