John R. Haynie, Jr. of Harwich, MA passed away unexpectedly on October 22, 2023 at the age of 75. He was the husband of Donna Marie (Murphy) Haynie.  Jay was born in Hackensack, NJ the son of John R. and Myrtle (Ruether) Haynie.
 
Jay was a man of many talents.  He was an auto mechanic for many years and taught auto mechanics in New York.  He worked as a short order cook, taught himself to carve and paint signs and for many years owned and operated Nauset Answering Service.
 
In addition, he enjoyed motorcycles, shooting at the range as well as meeting at the club for conversation and drinks.
 
In addition to his wife he is survived by his sister, Judith Bedell and her husband, Theodore and their three children, Sharon, Theodore Jr., and Maraha "Vicki".  Also surviving are a brother-in-law, Michael Murphy, his wife Cindi and their children
Sean, Ryan and Laura and brother-in-law Robert Murphy, his wife, Rita and their children, Heather, Alec, Ben and Cole.
 
Friends and relatives are invited to call at the Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Ave., South Yarmouth, MA on Thursday, November 2, 2023 from 4-7 P.M.  Services will be private.
