Lorraine (Eldridge) Hamilton, 93, passed quietly Saturday, August 19 at Liberty Commons in Chatham. She joins her husband, Melford B. Hamilton who pre-deceased her in November of 2022. 
 
She is survived by her children Karen Donahue and her husband Tom of Yarmouth, Carol Ona Haigh and her husband Gary of Brewster, and Melford Roy Hamilton, traveling and  granddaughter Melanie Donahue of Michigan, the Hall family of Harwich and nieces, nephews and cousins around the world.
 
Born in Dennis Port at the family home on Center Street, Lorraine worked in the secretarial pool at the Navy Department and later as a clerical worker in the Dennis-Yarmouth School system. 
 
Lorraine was the wife and partner to Melford B. Hamilton for seventy years, growing a family, business and a universe of friends on Cape Cod. Both she and Melford B. were active in the West Dennis Community Church, teaching Sunday School as well as being a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
 
Lorraine was of a long line of native Cape Codders and was related to many of Cape Cod’s “old comers” families. She is remembered by family and friends as a lover of the Cape’s history and heritage and her reminiscences and telling of stories of simpler times on Cape Cod.
 
Services were private.
