Maureen Hull

Maureen (Davis) Hull, a resident of Yarmouth Port, died on August 18, 2023, following a lengthy illness. Born Mary Agnes Davis in Newport, RI, she was the daughter of Mary Margaret (Sullivan) and John Paul Davis. She attended schools in Newport and Fall River before earning a B.S. in Nursing at Salve Regina College. In 1955, while working on the pediatrics ward at Newport Hospital, she met her husband to be. They were married in St. Joseph’s Church in Newport on April 30, 1960.
Following her marriage, Maureen worked as a public health nurse for the VNA of Newport. She earned a M.S. in Nursing from Boston College in 1967 and taught community health nursing at Salve Regina College, San Diego State College, and the University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth, retiring in 1992 as full professor. While at UMass Dartmouth she served on the board of Fall River Hospice and was instrumental in effecting the merger of that agency with the VNA of Fall River.
In retirement she volunteered for many years as an advisor in Rhode Island SHIP (Senior Health Insurance Program). She and her husband traveled widely in the United States and Europe. They resided in Newport and Portsmouth, Rhode Island, before moving to Cape Cod in 2004. Maureen is predeceased by her parents and her brother Captain John Paul Davis, Jr., USN. She is survive by her loving husband, Leon Clinton Hull, Jr. and by several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, September 9, 2023 at 11:00am atSt. Pius X Catholic Church, Station Ave, South Yarmouh. Inturment will follow in Ancient Cemetery, Yarmouth Port.

So sorry to hear this news. I worked with Maureen at VNA in Newport starting in 1964 as a new nursing grad from Salve. She was a wonderful nurse and so helpful to me as a newbie. Prayers for her and her family, RIP Maureen.
