Noel Philip Bonacci of Yarmouth Port, MA passed away peacefully with his wife Alice of 61 years, by his side, on July 28, 2023 at the age of 86. He was born in Kingston, NY to parents Anthony and Ethel (Cole) Bonacci who predeceased him.  He lived in NY State until he retired in 1995, when he and Alice moved to Cape Cod.

Noel attended St. Joseph’s School and Kingston High School.  He received a Bachelor’s Degree from Cornell University, a Master’s Degree from SUNY Albany in Public Administration and completed course certification in alcohol and substance abuse counseling.
Noel worked for NYS for 37 ½ years in various positions. He first worked in a state prison as a teacher/counselor, then as an assistant director of a state facility for troubled youth. The majority of his career was with the NYS Department of Health, where he served as the Director of Personnel, Acting Director of the Bureau of Maternal and Child Health, and as an Administrator in the Center for Community Health.

His 40 years of Volunteer work included: work with troubled youth at Parson’s Child and Family Center, coach and manager of Little League and Babe Ruth baseball leagues in Colonie, NY, and after moving to Cape Cod, for 17 years he packaged and delivered meals to seniors through the Cape and Islands Meals on Wheels program in Yarmouth, spending extra time with each person he encountered.
As a member of Our Lady of Mercy Parish in Colonie, he was a CCD teacher, church lector, chair of it’s twinning program with the inner city parish and the head of its first Parish Council.  After moving to Cape Cod he attended Saint Pius X Church.

Over his lifetime, Noel enjoyed many sports, playing baseball, basketball, tennis, jogging and golf. He believed participation in sports was both physically and mentally rewarding.  He especially enjoyed golfing on the Cape and in Florida on vacation.  He played over 50 rounds last year including getting his 3rd hole-in-one! He was an avid spectator as well, enjoying watching golf and his beloved Yankees.

Noel was married to Alice (Freer) in 1961.  Throughout their marriage he was very appreciative of her love, support and understanding.  They were partners in life, sharing 61 memorable years together through the good and difficult times.

Besides his wife, Alice, Noel is survived by his loving family: his devoted daughter Beth Yurchak and her husband, Walter, his daughter-in-law Rhonda (Rath) Bonacci and his grandchildren: Ryan Yurchak and his wife, Caitlin, Justin Yurchak and Meaghan, Kealia Bonacci, and Taylor Bonacci. His son Stephen predeceased him on December 4, 2007. Family was so important to Noel, especially his grandchildren.  He was so grateful for the joy and love they brought to his life.
Noel’s twin brother Joseph predeceased him in January 2023. Noel is survived by Joe’s wife Ann Bonacci and their children: James and his wife Susan, his son Anthony and Anthony's wife Kara, David and his wife Elizabeth, their children Kyle and Emma, and Denise Bonacci and her children Jack, Karin and Kristin Yannes.  Also surviving are his close friends Jack Garland, Rev. John Spino and Dave Norlach.

Noel was a kind, loving, and compassionate man and he will be incredibly missed. He was also known for his great sense of humor and quick wit.
Family and friends are invited to call at the Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Ave., South Yarmouth, MA from 4-7 P.M. on Thursday, August 3, 2023.  A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, August 4, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. in Saint Pius X Church, Station Ave., South Yarmouth, MA.  Interment in Saratoga Springs, NY at a later date.
