Cathy Ann (Brown) Barker, 76, of West Yarmouth passed away peacefully surrounded by family on July 9, 2023. 
 
Cathy leaves her husband of 46 years, John R. Barker, Jr of West Yarmouth.  She is survived by her three sons, John R. Barker III and his wife, Nana of Medfield, Stephen F. Barker and his wife, Casey of West Barnstable and Christopher B. Barker of Needham.  She is also survived by her four grandsons, John Russell IV, Evan, Stevie and Ryan, her sister, Ellen and her husband, Tom of Scituate and nephew, Peter of New York.  She is predeceased by her brothers Frederick and Stephen Brown both formerly of Lynn, MA and West Yarmouth.
 
Cathy was born on January 7, 1947 to Frederick and Mary Brown in Lynn, MA.  She graduated from St. Mary’s in Lynn in 1964 and went on to join the Sisters of Notre Dame until 1966.  She then attended Newton College of the Sacred Heart in Newton, MA and following graduation she began teaching elementary school in Lynn, MA before moving to Cape Cod in 1977.  Cathy and her husband, John were long time owner/operators of a motel in West Yarmouth before retiring in 2018.  For many years she was a teacher’s aide, room mother and team mother for her sons’ sporting activities.  Some of Cathy’s fondest memories were raising her family, swimming and boating on Lewis Bay.  She loved traveling to Maine and New Hampshire for winter ski trips with family and friends.  She enjoyed watching sports on TV with her family, especially Notre Dame, Boston College, the Red Sox and the Patriots.
 
Family and friends are invited to call at the Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Ave., South Yarmouth, MA on Wednesday, July 19 from 9:00 to 10:30 A.M. followed by a funeral Mass at 11:00 A.M. at Saint Pius X Church, Station Ave., South Yarmouth, MA.  Interment in Chandler Gray Cemetery, West Yarmouth, MA.

So sorry to hear of Cathy’s passing. Steve kept John and I informed of her situation. It is so hard to hear of losing another family member. Keeping you and your family in our prayers. Love Ruthie

Dear John, I am so sorry to read of Cathy's passing. We enjoyed so many wonderful vacations at your home, but I also thoroughly enjoyed many phone conversations with her a couple of times a year. We would spend a very long time catching up and discussing the children and the grandchildren. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Kate and Kevin Kelly
