Joseph T Jurgensen age 82, of Siesta Key, FL and Bass River, MA devoted husband and father passed away peacefully on June 13, 2023. He was preceded in death by his loving son Joseph Jurgensen Jr. He is survived by his wife of 57 years Barbara (Braicovich) and daughter Stephanie.

He was born in New York, NY to the late Ethel and Joseph Jurgensen and was the oldest sibling of the late Richard Jurgensen, the late Judith (Jurgensen) Blanks and survived by his youngest sibling Kenneth Jurgensen.

Joe graduated from City University of NY the Bernard Baruch College and subsequently earned an American College Chartered Life Underwriters (CLU) degree. He ran a thriving insurance business for more than 25 years in Carmel, NY and was a fixture in his children’s school and sports activities, serving often as a coach and always cheering them on.

Throughout his life he traveled extensively with family and friends, avidly snapping photos along the way. He enjoyed many years of golfing with cherished friends in NY, MA and FL. Despite relocation to MA after retirement, he was a life-long fan of NY sports teams, proudly taking ribbings for wearing his NY Yankees and Giants hats in the heart of enemy country.

Joe frequently sailed and kayaked in the waters of Bass River and Nantucket Sound and was regularly seen walking the neighborhood, even after the loss of his beloved dog Jack. In retirement Joe spent winters on Siesta Key at White Sands Village and summers on the Cape at the West Dennis Yacht Club enjoying time with friends and many social events, book club meetings and playing cribbage.

A visitation will be held Tuesday, June 20th from 5-8 pm at Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Ave, South Yarmouth, MA. Funeral service on Wednesday, June 21st at 11 am  in Hallett Funeral Home, followed by interment at Woodside Cemetery, Summer St, Yarmouth Port, MA.
