Joan M. Kingsbury, of Yarmouthport, passed away on March 22, 2023, after a brief illness.

Joan was born in Milton, Massachusetts on January 23, 1932, to parents John and Evelyn Hutcheon. The family moved to Duxbury where she graduated high school in 1949.

She attended the University of New Hampshire where she met her future husband, Richard. They were engaged their senior year and were married April 3, 1954. The couple settled in Chelmsford where they welcomed daughters Lorna and Anne.

Although home and family were Joan’s priorities, she had several creative hobbies including painting, pottery and local theater. She also volunteered in the school system and was a Girl Scout leader when her daughters were older.

Joan had a flair for entertaining. Whether it was holidays with family or dinner parties for friends, no detail was overlooked.

The family relocated several times before settling in Amherst, New Hampshire in 1973. Summer vacations were spent at Lake Winnipesaukee and Cape Cod.

Joan and Richard loved traveling with friends. Their first few trips were spent in tropical locations. In the 1980s, they began exploring Europe, with Great Britain and Italy being two of their favorite destinations.

The couple moved into their Yarmouthport dream home, which Richard designed, in 2000. Joan was happiest when Lorna and Anne would bring their families for holidays and summer vacations.

Joan is survived by Richard, her husband of 69 years, her daughter and son-in-law Lorna and Andy, daughter Anne as well as grandchildren Andrew, John, Sarah and Ali.

Funeral and burial in Woodside Cemetery, Yarmouth Port will be private.
