Martin J. Rivero
September 15, 1947 – March 25, 2023

Martin Rivero was a man of his era.  He was born and raised in San Francisco, CA and was a lifetime fan of the Giants and Forty-Niners.  In 1964 he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served two and a half tours in Vietnam.  The second half of the second tour was spent covering the Pueblo incident.

Returning to San Francisco in 1968 he worked as a firefighter at Alameda Naval Air Station and later worked as a teamster.  He took full advantage of the city he loved, indulging in his passions for photography, music of all kinds and comedy clubs.  He later moved north to Marin County where he met and married his wife, Jacki.  He decided to seriously pursue his passion for photography, eventually graduating from the Academy of Art.  He was immediately hired to run the still camera rental department of Adolph Gassers, one of the largest camera rental houses on the west coast.  His clients ranged from ordinary consumers to ad agencies, television and film studios, earning the sobriquet “photo yoda”.

In 2004, he and his wife retired to Cape Cod.  He became involved in setting up and running farmers’ markets.  Along with their cat, Beatrice, they made numerous trips to California and back.

He leaves behind his wife Jacki, sister Julie Maher and her son, Jeff Maher and his family, his nephew Anthony Rivero and his family as well as many, many friends.

In lieu of a service he asked that anyone who wished to remember him, go out and have a nice dinner with good friends.

Fair winds and following seas.
