Robert Eugene Alexander
Mar 26th, 2023
Robert Eugene Alexander, 63, went to meet his heavenly Father on March 26, 2023. Known best for his capacity to love people well, Robert was the kind of person who would turn any project into an adventure. Robert’s way is hard to describe, but those who were fortunate enough to spend any time with him know exactly why it’s hard to capture him in words. Even his various careers attest to his uniqueness. From Odd Job Bob who helped countless people with home projects to the warm hospitality expert at the Belvedere Bed and Breakfast all the way back to his service in the U.S. Army, Robert’s mission was all about relationships. He would show up at your home unannounced (pop-over), teach you how to perfectly grill your chicken (never, ever leave the grill), tell childhood stories over a beer, and plan and execute your next home project with gusto and a can-do attitude,“It’s gonna be great!”.
When he married the love of his life, Sue Ann (Richardson) Alexander, in 1984, he got just what he always hoped for, an instant family. Daughters, Sarah Greene and Katie Castano and, eventually sons-in-law, Jon Greene and Raymond Castano along with granddaughters, Eliana and Vivian Castano completed his family circle.
Robert was born on June 17,1959 in St. Louis, Missouri, one of five siblings. He enjoyed the boy scouts, outdoor life, and working on vehicles until he joined the Army. Following in the footsteps of his uncle, he became an 82nd Airborne paratrooper and jumped out of airplanes on purpose. He served during Desert Storm as a member of the National Guard. After moving to Cape Cod, Robert earned his associate’s degree and continued to serve and love people, regardless of his job title.
While his family and friends grieve the loss of his generosity of spirit, patient kindness, and helping hands, we know that he is in the presence of his Savior. There’s no one like him and he will be missed until we see him again in glory.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 18, 2023 at 11:30 A.M. in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, MA. The procession will leave the Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Ave., South Yarmouth, MA at 10:00 A.M.
