Dorothy (Dot) Helen McFarland, a resident of West Yarmouth, MA, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 26, 2023 in Haverhill, MA.

She was born on August 18, 1927 in Boston, Massachusetts. She was married in 1947 to Robert W. McFarland, who predeceased her in 1995. They lived in Walpole, MA and raised five children, Robert, Gary, Gail, Alan, and Paula. She was predeceased by Alan in 2018. She is survived by her four children, their spouses, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and friends.

She lived all of her 95 years in Massachusetts, retiring to her beloved Cape Cod in 1985. Her life was filled with raising and caring for her family, but she never stopped educating herself, learning many crafts and skills after her children were grown. She was a member of The Garden Club of Yarmouth, Seashell Quilters, Bayberry Quilters, and was active at the Yarmouth Senior Center. She was an avid gardener and could make anything grow. She loved the beach, but most of all, she loved spending time with her family.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Pius X Church, Station Ave. South Yarmouth on Tuesday April 11 at 11:00 am. Followed by a burial in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, at 1:15. All are welcome. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Yarmouth Senior Center, 528 Forest Road, West Yarmouth, MA 02673, or The Garden Club of Yarmouth, PO Box 94, South Yarmouth, MA 02664. 

Our hearts go out to you all on the loss of your Mom. She led a beautiful life and accomplished so much and will be sorely missed by many.
