Lorraine Marie O'Connell
Nov 30th, 2022
It is with the utmost sorrow and endearing love that we mourn the loss of Lorraine (Jackson) O’Connell who passed away peacefully at the age of 94 at the Cape Cod Hospital on November 30th 2022. Her five sons were at her side. Born in Worcester, MA to John Ivar Jackson and Blanche (Letiecq) Jackson, the younger sister to her brother George. The loving mother to her five sons, Neil, Christopher, Mark, Jerry and Jim O’Connell, she will be lovingly remembered by her 8 grandchildren and 5 greatgrandchildren, niece, nephew and cousins. She was previously married to the late Walter O’Connell of Boston.
After moving to Cape Cod in 1953, Lorraine began an ambitious career as an owner and operator of Willow Run Cottages in Bass River and to compliment her love of ice cream, opened the Village Creamery Ice Cream Shop and later went on to work in Macy’s until retiring in 1993. She enjoyed spending time at nearby Sea Gull beach, and as an avid golfer Lorraine especially looked forward to getting out on the greens with her friends. She always enjoyed relaxing in conversations, whether playing card games with her family and friends or watching a Patriots, Bruins or Red Sox game. She was a very patriotic and proud American, charismatic, full of life with a great sense of humor.
Relatives and friends may call at the Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Ave., South Yarmouth, MA on Tuesday, December 6, 2022 from 5-7 P.M. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 7, 2022 at 10 A.M. at Saint Pius X Catholic Church, Station Ave, South Yarmouth, MA. A private interment will follow at Chandler Gray Cemetery in West Yarmouth.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Lorraine’s memory may be made to the Saint Pius X Catholic School, supporting Catholic education.
The family wishes to recognize and thank the very professional medical team at the CVICU, Cape Cod Hospital for their kind and gentle care of Lorraine.
