Annette M. Preston
Nov 7th, 2022
Annette Marie Preston, age 82, of Yarmouthport, MA died peacefully on November 7, 2022.
Born in Brockton, MA on December 19, 1939, she is survived by her loving husband, Leslie Preston, of 63 years of marriage. She is also survived by her sons Jeffrey Preston and his wife, Lois; Mark Preston and his wife, Patricia; Keith Preston and his wife, Laura; and her six grandchildren, Christopher, Courtney, Kathrine, Quinten, Lucy and Brooks.
Annette grew up in Roslindale where she was a 1957 graduate of Roslindale High School and met her husband. She and Les raised their family in Walpole, MA. Annette loved the social aspect of work; because she loved her work, she pushed retirement off until she was close to 79 years of age.
Her friendly, outgoing disposition seemed to help her make friends everywhere she went; she had many life-long friends. While her sons were young, she worked at Heartland Drug in Walpole where she became well known in the surrounding towns. Anywhere she went, someone seemed to know Annette. In 1986, she began working at the Westwood Town Hall as a Payroll and Benefits Administrator; in 1999 she moved to her home in Yarmouthport and transitioned her career to the Brewster Town Hall. Annette loved advocating for the local town employees she serviced. Her ease in making friendships and frequenting a few favored spots truly afforded Annette the status where everyone knew her name.
A favorite part of her morning routine was an iced coffee and muffin from Grumpy’s – on many occasions they were waiting for her as she rushed in on her way to work. Annette loved walking the nearby beaches ever searching for sea glass, and always prepared with a pocketful of treats for the dogs she met along the way. No matter the time of year, Annette walked the beach. She cherished time with friends and enjoyed organizing outings with them. A seasonal favorite was attending Estate Sales where she was always in search of a new, favorite piece of pottery. She spent many Summer Saturday afternoons enjoying iced coffee with her friends at Sesuit Harbor watching the hustle and bustle of the marina activities. Even when she was unable to walk the beaches, she and Les enjoyed a cup of coffee soaking up the afternoon sun from the truck while overlooking her favorite spot. Annette was a kind, caring and loving friend to many and will be dearly missed.
Services and burial will be private.

Dear Les, Jeff, Mark, Keith, and the rest of the Preston Family. Please know how sad we are at the loss of your dear Annette. We sure enjoyed celebrating with you our Grandchildren’s many sports games, birthdays, graduations, over the years. And yes, she was so proud of them. She was a very special lady. Dear Les & Family Please accept my condolences on the passing of Annette. I worked with her at the Brewster Town Hall for many years until her retirement. She was always so full of energy which probably explained why she was so fit! She was known for her love of LL Bean clothing which she wore so well. She always looked forward to her Maine trips so she could buy more LL Bean clothes. She was happiest talking about her grandchildren and how proud she was. Also all the Les fishing stories. Another coworker and I took Annette out to breakfast one year ago this week. She had her usual egg sandwich and iced coffee. Glad we were able to see her. Again so very sorry for your loss. RIP Annette Sincerely, Terry Iaccheri
