Elsie Christina (Nystrom) Larson

Elsie Christina (Nystrom) Larson passed away peacefully on July 17, 2022 at the age of 95 surrounded by her family. Elsie was the daughter of the late Axel Gunnar and Johanna (Johansson) Nystrom and wife of the late Paul W. Larson who passed away in 1992 and the late Louis A. Boucher who recently passed away on June 30 2022.
Elsie lived in Worcester, Shrewsbury, Holden, Eastham and Tarpon Springs, FL.She graduated from Shrewsbury High School in 1944 and was employed as theprincipal’s secretary and then as a secretary in the guidance department at the newly built Wachusett Regional High School in Holden, MA. Prior to her retirement in 1992 she was the Assistant Director of the Anatomical Gift Program at the University of Massachusetts Medical School for many years.
Formerly a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Worcester, Elsie was presently
a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Harwich, MA.
From the time of childhood vacations to her teenage years and into her retirementshe enjoyed many years of living in the house her father built in Eastham in 1960.Elsie loved nature, birds, her gardens, the ocean, reading mysteries, solving jumble puzzles and watching Jeopardy.
She had a passion for nice clothes and was always impeccably dressed for workand fashionably dressed for special occasions.
Each of her two husbands kept her laughing which she loved. With her first husband, Paul she traveled to Sweden, Canada and Bermuda. With her husband, Louis she traveled the U.S. wintering in Florida.
She enjoyed time spent with family and the grandchildren most of all. She leaves her three daughters, Lee-Ann Larson of Eastham, Nancy Guillette and her husband, Philip of Dudley and Karen Apatow and her husband, Nathan of Orleans as well as her grandchildren, Jeremy and Diana Guillette, Joseph, Jack, Jillian and Julia Apatow and a great grandchild on the way. A niece, several nephews and extended family live in Sweden.
In addition to her parents and husbands Elsie is predeceased by her brother, Nils Nystrom and her sister, Helga Jacobson.
The family would like to thank the staff at Westview Healthcare Center in Dayville, CT for their exceptional care of her during her final months.
Friends and relatives are invited to attend a memorial service at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 310 Route 137, Harwich, MA 02645 on Saturday, July 30, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. with a small luncheon to follow.
