Ruth Evelyn Elia, 90 years old, of Yarmouth Port, MA, passed away on Sunday, May 22, 2022, at Windsor Skilled Nursing in South Yarmouth, MA.

Evelyn was born in Chicago, IL to Gunnar and Ruth Engblom on April 3, 1932. She went to high school at North Park Academy, in Chicago and graduated in 1949. She then attended Trinity Bible College and received her AA in 1951. She then attended Swedish Covenant Hospital School of Nursing in Chicago and following graduation in 1954, received her Registered Nursing certification. She worked in the nursing profession from then until she retired in 1998. Over the years she enjoyed knitting and playing piano. On April 16, 1955, Evelyn married the Reverend George B. Elia.

She is survived by her husband, George, and their three children, Kevin (Robyn), Kimberly (Robert Travers) and Kurt (Catrina), their ten grandchildren, Allison Elia, Caroline Elia, Ben Elia, Nathaniel Travers, Liam Travers, Aidan Travers, Jack Elia, Harry Elia, Olivia and Juliette Elia, and her nieces, Sheri Peterson and Susan Williams, and her nephew, Timothy Anderson. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gunnar and Ruth Engblom and her sister, Ingrid Anderson.

A memorial service will be held later in the summer at the Cape Cod Covenant Church in Brewster, MA with Reverend Thomas Nelson officiating.
