Paul Gilson passed away on May 10 at Cape Cod Hospital at the age of 71. He was the husband of Donna (Hallett) Gilson to whom he was married for 51 years. They were high school sweethearts. He was the father of Cheryl (Gilson) Radford, and Christine (Gilson) Skirvan and her husband, Ted. Paul was a loving Papa to four grandchildren, Emma, Ava, Ian, and Sean and uncle to David Gilson, Michael Gilson and their families. Also surviving is his dog, Buddy.
Born in 1950 in Weymouth, MA, he was the son of the late William Joseph and Edith Mae Gilson. He graduated from Braintree High School in 1968. He was formerly the Executive Vice President of sales for Hanes. Following his employment at Hanes, he joined his wife in the small business they had together for many years. Following retirement Paul and Donna spent their winters in Florida residing on Cape Cod for the majority of the year.
Paul enjoyed being at the beach, boating on Bass River, spending time with family, and rides with his dogs. He will always be remembered for his endless jokes, smiles, kindness, and his love of animals.
In addition to his parents, Paul was predeceased by his brother William Gilson, his nephew, Daniel Gilson, and his dogs, Martina and George.
Having passed away from a recent diagnosis of cancer, Paul would say, “I gave it my best shot”. The family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses at Cape Cod Hospital, and the CNA staff on the 4th floor of the Mugar building.
The memory of Paul will be forever cherished by his family.
Contributions in his memory may be made to the MSPCA of Cape Cod. Paul’s love for animals was always a big part of his life.
