Nancy Meryl (Eaton) Conley, 81, passed away peacefully at her home in Dennis on Saturday, April 23, 2022 after a brief illness, surrounded by family. Nancy, known as Robin by family and friends, was born in Framingham, MA, on May 23, 1940 the daughter of Baird Kingman Eaton  and Mary (Morris) Eaton. She was also the step-daughter of the late Biddle R. Thompson Jr. of Harwich Port. Robin was the former wife of the late Thomas McQueeney  and widow of the late Edward F. Conley.

She leaves her daughter Mary McQueeney (her partner Bill) of Roswell, New Mexico, her son Morgan McQueeney (Nina) of Fitchburg, brother Baird Kingman “Kim” Eaton (Pamela) of Dennis, half- sisters Laura Thompson of Chester, NH, Mary Eleanor (Mimi/Sarah) Merrick (Dale) of Alturas, CA, Kathryn Eaton, Margaret Eaton, both of Ipswich, and half-brothers Biddle R. “Tom” Thompson (Nancy) of Brewster and Thomas Eaton (Linda) of Ipswich, granddaughter Elizabeth McQueeney, step-grandsons, Nicholay and Misha Tarabykin, and nieces, nephews,  and many cousins. She also leaves her beloved dog Sam who has been a constant comfort to her.

During her years at Howard Seminary for Girls and Bridgewater State College where she graduated in 1962, Robin spent many early wonderful summers sailing at the Stone Horse Yacht Club and working with her Thompson family at Wychmere Harbor Club and Thompson Bros. Clam Bar in Harwich Port. Following graduation from Bridgewater, with a bachelor’s degree in physical education, she taught at schools in the New York City area. Returning to the Cape in 1989, she continued to teach in the Harwich schools and later worked at the Epoch Nursing Home in Harwich before retiring, prior to her marriage to Edward Conley of Dennis Port in 2003.

Robin always loved sports, especially water sports, early on participating in synchronized swimming and snorkeling. She had been active with the Academy of Performing Arts tap dance program and later on enjoyed square dancing with her late husband. Upon his passing in 2020, Robin moved to Cranberry Knoll in Dennis and in a very short time made many new friends sharing her love for both knitting and photography.

Following private services, this kind and generous woman will be laid to rest in the family plot at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Harwich Port. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes remembrances be made to Wild Care, Inc., 10 Smith Lane, Eastham, MA 02642 or the Pilgrim Congregational Church, P. O. Box 247, Harwich Port, MA 02646 where Robin had been a member since 1952.
