Frances M. Cormier
Apr 11th, 2022
Frances Cormier Née Roush, a loving and devoted grandmother, mother, wife and friend left this earth peacefully at home on April 11th at the age of 89.
Fran was born in South Charleston, West Virginia and a graduate of West Virginia University where she studied Recreation. She served as Director of Womens’ Programs at the Fitchburg, Mass YMCA. She attended the Bonnie Pruden School in Stockbridge, MA where she became a certified myotherapist and exercise therapist.
Fran was a valued member of the community and volunteered her time in many ways. Most recently, she enjoyed participating in volunteer projects at the Cape Cod Library where she also regularly attended their craft group. She also spent many years volunteering at the Museum of Natural History where she was known affectionately as the “bug lady”. There, she ardently taught visitors (and her beloved grandchildren) how to care for and respect marine and other wildlife. She had a gentle manner about her, and yet she could be a force to be reckoned with when necessary, letting her passion shine through in all her activities and interactions.
Fran is survived by her loving spouse of 64 years, Louis Cormier, as well as her devoted child, Leslie Guth and her son-in-law, Steve Guth. She is an adored grandmother of Sarah Guth and her grandson-in-law Rick, as well as her grandson, Tyler Guth. Also survived by her sister in-law, Gloria Michalewitz. This past year, she was thrilled to meet her great-grandchild, Julian, and in their short time together, the two created many special memories by sharing joyful giggles and milestone moments. She is loved deeply by all and will be remembered by her dedication to her community and family, as well as her relentlessly kind heart.
Fran’s family will be celebrating her life at a cherished beachside location, where they have made many precious memories.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Dennis Memorial Library, 1020 Old Bass River Rd., Dennis, MA 02638.
