Edward Tredick Catlett Jr. died peacefully on January 12, 2022 in Harwich, MA. Edward, known to his family and friends as Dick, was born July 17, 1931 in Camden, New Jersey, the son of Margaret and Edward Catlett. He married his high school sweetheart, Ruth Anne Wright who passed away on April 1, 2020.  Ruth Anne and Dick were married for 65 years. 
 
Dick graduated from Episcopal Academy and Amherst College with a bachelors degree in economics. He continued to take local classes and join discussion groups into his 90’s.  He was a talented athlete who played football, baseball and basketball for Episcopal Academy and football and baseball for Amherst College.  In the final minutes of his senior year at Amherst College he blocked a punt and then kicked the championship winning field goal against Williams College.  He was named All New England Defensive End. Dick was a Navy pilot from 1952 until 1957. He flew the single pilot, single prop, AD Skyraider off the deck of the aircraft carrier, Yorktown, in the Pacific with the 7th fleet.  He was a Lieutenant when he left the Navy.
 
  Dick started his work career as a sales representative for Towle Silver. He went on to become President of Royal Doulton China and then President of Izod Lacoste, men's division. Later in his career he owned and operated Tonnell Display and Riverbend Sales. 
 
He is survived by his four children; Cathleen, John, Elizabeth and David. Cathy and her husband, Bill live in Colorado. John lives in New Jersey. Elizabeth and her husband, Michael live in Massachusetts. David and his wife, Lorie live in Connecticut. In addition to his four children, Boppy is survived by six grandchildren; John’s children, Johnathan and Jill Catlett; Elizabeth’s son, Cory Babich and David’s daughters, Taylor, Emily, and Madelyn Catlett. Dick is also survived by his sister, Corinne Beach.  Corinne and Ed live in Rancho Santa Fe, California.  

Dick lived a long, full life. He was passionate about family, friends, ski trips with the Hullebergs, tennis, ping pong, golf, getting his first tattoo at 85, a factual exchange of opinions and woodworking.  He will be greatly missed.  A celebration of life will be held for Dick and Ruth Anne at a later date.
