Anne Stirling (McWalter) Forbes, a longtime resident of Vienna, VA, died peacefully on December 25, 2021 in her home surrounded by family. She was 84.
Anne Forbes “Nancy”, daughter of the late Judge Maurice and Jean (Stirling) McWalter, was born in Concord, MA on December 29, 1936. She attended Concord-Carlisle High and went on to Stephens College in Columbia, MO, graduating in 1953. Anne met her future husband while they worked as lifeguards at Waldon Pond in Concord. She married her sweetheart, Charles Otis Forbes, in 1954 and went on to have six children; Charles Otis Forbes Jr., William Scott Forbes (Christine), Kim Forbes, Pamela Forbes Cooke (Ronnie), Edward Stirling Forbes (Renee), and Russell Sherman Forbes (Jennifer) in addition to a 20-year career in retail at Bloomingdales & Talbots. Anne has eight grandchildren; Emily A. Cooke, Julia F. Ostrander (Bobby), Danielle Forbes, Ronnie Cooke Jr., Natalie Forbes, Miles S. Forbes, Rusty Forbes Jr. and Cooper O. Forbes.
She is also survived by her brother, Maurice McWalter Jr. (Patricia) of Brewster, MA, her sister, Mary Jean (Molly) Donahoe of Haverhill, MA, and her sister-in-law, Sandra Webber of Casey Key, FL, and many nieces & nephews
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Charles Otis Forbes (2001), her brothers, Thomas Stirling and Stephen Warren, her sister, Helen "Meg" Finan, and her sister-in-law, Mary Ann Forbes.
Anne was loved by everyone because of her generous spirit and pleasant personality. She enjoyed playing golf, bridge, spending time with family and friends at Kent Island, MD, and St. Croix, USVI, traveling with her college roommates, and her conversations over the backyard fence with dear friends.
There will be a private family burial service on Jan 15 @ 1:00 PM at Woodside Cemetery, Yarmouth Port, MA.
