Monique A. (Louis) Galipeau 81 of Hyannis died Saturday December 25, 2021 at her home in Hyannis.  Her family are all so sad to announce that she has lost her incredible fight with diabetes and kidney dialysis.  She beat the odds, her stubborn will kept her going.

Monique was known as the “Woman with 1000 Lives”.  Upon meeting Monique you quickly realized she was a colorful character.  Her slight obsession for purple was a theme throughout her wardrobe which was represented proudly on her crazy leggings. Her unconditional love for ALL animals, especially cats, was a driving force that made her very happy.

She dreamed of going to the pool and playing her ukulele with friends and family, right up to the end, a driving force that gave her hope.
She left this earth on her own terms on the night of Christmas, peacefully at home in her “HAPPY PLACE”, her comfortable bed, with friends and family, her cats by her side and Shark Tank playing in the background on the TV.

Monique is survived by three daughters, Caroline Carton and Jacqueline Hampton both of Hyannis, and Christine Garrity of Centerville; five grandchildren, Brittany Fitzgerald, Liam Garrity, Samuel Galipeau, and Ezekiel and Olivia Hampton; and three great grandchildren, Casey, Zane Carter, and Evan Fizgerald.

Her wishes are being honored by not have services at this time, and her ashes will be laid to rest with her husband in the future.

As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to an animal charity of your choice.

Monique was a long time volunteer at Casa de los Angeles in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. She always brought joy and hugs to the children we served. Plus, she did a great job whacking our piñatas at special events. We send all our love to her family.

I’m so sorry Christine for your loss! It’s definitely a painful time, but one that comes with a comfort knowing death is a part of life. It’s a cycle that continues on. We never die, we only change our “suit of clothing” in order to prepare for another life’s adventure. Hang in there and I hope you and your sisters can take this time to heal your wounds.

I'm very sorry for your mum's passing. In my memory she was the upbeat baker of the best lemon squares ever. I'm sorry that Christmas Day might bring sadness. I hope Christmas evokes the good and the humorous memories. How lovely for her to support four-leggeds, just like an angel. Please call if want an extra hand with Monique's house or just want a lunch delivery. Wishing you joy, peace, and love in the new year, despite your loss. -Naomi-

I am so sorry to hear of Monique’s passing. I have many happy memories of staying with her that winter & spring in Hyannis. Stories of cats, and of you girls and all the grandkids. Taking the wrong cat to the vet. But her love for all of her family and her caring for all of us will be remembered forever. My heart is heavy as I write this, and my loving thoughts are with all of you at this time. Please let me know if you need anything. Love you all! Kathy
