Nancy (Zelt) Bunting of Yarmouth Port, MA passed away on December 22, 2021, at the age of 87. She formerly lived in Richmond, VA and Holliston, MA. Born on November 26, 1934, Nancy graduated from Fairmont High School and Fairmont State College in West Virginia  where she studied to be a teacher. She taught Home Economics in Towson, Maryland and later shared her talents as a preschool teacher at the First Congregational Church in Holliston, MA.

She is predeceased by her loving husband of 36 years, Robert (Bob) Alwyn Bunting, her  brother, John Zelt and her parents Janet and J. Robert Zelt. Remembering her with love are daughters; Amy Heath and husband, Paul of Severna Park, MD, Carrie Rodricks and husband, Jim  of South Yarmouth, MA, and Sara Grande and husband, Mike of Plainsboro, NJ. She leaves behind nine grandchildren; Tommy, Matthew, Emily, Ellie, Robert, Abbie, Julia, Kate, and Tessa. She always greeted her grandchildren with a “Yoo-hoo!” when they were young, and continued to write letters, trade comic strips and send recipes to them across the states. No breakfast was complete without “bunny toast”, a special creation “Nana” shared with her grandchildren, and a tradition that will be carried on in the family for future generations.

Nancy was an avid tea drinker and enjoyed giving “tea talks” about the history of tea. She was extraordinarily creative, spending her free time quilting, painting watercolors, flower arranging and sewing. She loved cooking and making cakes and pies, always with homemade  crust for her family as well as the community for fundraisers.

Nancy was an active member of various garden clubs and the Yarmouth Friday Club where she enjoyed making crafts and baked goods for their events. She was in her element when  preparing food for large gatherings at church fairs and funeral collations at the First Congregational Church in Yarmouth. She lived her life with the strong belief of helping those in  need and using her gifts to give to others. At any given moment, she was making or creating something from her heart.

Affectionately known as “Nana”, even to her sons-in-law, Nana’s sharp wit, humor, and    tell-it-like-it-is talk will be fondly remembered and greatly missed.

A gathering to celebrate her life will take place in the summer of 2022. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating blood or contributing to the Yarmouth Friday Club, PO Box 151, Yarmouth Port, MA 02675 in Nancy’s memory.

My condolences to Nancy’s family. While I only ever met her once…..I surely enjoyed our chats after meeting and we both liked to write notes. We were second cousins on my mother’s side of the family. ….I would say she inherited her love for art, family ,kindness and “people skills” from her Grandfather, Arthur L. Clutter. May she Rest In Peace.

Dear Amy, Paul and kids, I’m so sorry to hear of your loss. It sounds like your Nana was very loving and generous with her time and talents. Now I know where Ellie got her sewing skills -I guess, like many things, it skips a generation
