Paul M. Greeley
Dec 12th, 2021
Paul Martin Greeley, 76, of West Yarmouth, formerly of Sharon, died peacefully on December 12, 2021 while being embraced by his cherished wife of 53 years Christine (Klope) and devoted daughter Alyssa of Lincoln, RI.
Paul was the son of the late Martin A. and Bridie (O’Neill) Greeley of Mission Hill and the loving brother of Pat (Ed) O’Toole of West Roxbury, Mary (Dan) Jones of Boston, and Kevin Greeley of Woburn. He was the caring uncle of his nieces Karen O’Malley of West Roxbury, Maureen Cunningham of Dedham, Jeanne O’Toole of West Roxbury, and Elaine (Paul) Brancato of Dedham, and their children. He was the beloved brother-in-law of his acquired siblings Susan Klope of New Rochelle, NY, Joanne (Dan) Shamp of Gulfport, FL, Chet (Margot) Klope of Hillsdale, NJ, and Aileen (Ed) Niehaus of Brecksville, OH and their children and grandchildren.
Paul was a proud graduate of Northeastern University earning his B.S. with Honor in 1967, and Babson College earning his M.B.A. with Distinction in 1974. He served his country as an Army Reservist from 1969 to 1975, and as an Audit Manager for the U.S. General Accounting Office (GAO) for 36 years.
Paul shared his generous nature through years of volunteer work. From serving as a member and treasurer of the Vestry of St. John’s Church in Sharon; an officer of the Hyannis Park Civic Association; and assisting the Cape Cod Hospital Auxiliary. In recent years, he helped with the creation of the Yarmouth Police Foundation by serving as treasurer and board member, and was actively involved in the formation of the Yarmouth Blue Coats and Neighborhood Watch program.
Paul was a great pet Dad to his dog Annie, and enjoyed gardening and driving his sports car. Most of all, he loved cheering and supporting his beloved Northeastern Huskies hockey team. A sophisticated trip planner, he visited all 50 states, the Canadian provinces, and a significant number of European countries with his family.
We invite you to join us in thanking God as we celebrate Paul’s life.
Visitation will be held on Friday, December 17, 2021 from 4:00pm to 6:00pm in the Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Ave, South Yarmouth. My heartfelt condolences to Chris and Alyssa. I worked with Paul for well over thirty years at GAO, including many assignments where he was my supervisor. We always worked well together and enjoyed completing many interesting and challenging assignments. I benefited greatly from Paul's leadership and insights on these assignments.
My dear cousin Chris and Alyssa. My deepest sympathies for your loss of Paul. I know you have been companions for many years. He’s with the good Lord now and may he rest in peace. A good man that I did not know as well as I would’ve liked to but a good man and a good husband to my cousin Chris. God bless the family always Pug

Chris, I am so sad to hear that your loving husband Paul has passed away. I see that you were married for 53 years. Beverly and I just celebrated our 48th anniversary. You and Paul grew up together. Four years ago, we bought a house in Cotuit. Now we are Cape Codders like you. We love living here. Beverly’s brother bought a house in Yarmouth on the water. I so fondly remember our years working together. I wish you strength during this very sad time. Paul Ash
I will miss his smile! Take care of yourself. with Love, Elissa
God bless Paul and his family. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of the Greeley's at this time. Sincerely, Leo & Ginny McNeil
RIP Paul. We had a lot of good times working at GAO.
Paul was an outstanding human being. He was intelligent, kind and sensitive to a degree that is all too rare. His gentle good humour was a source of both joy and amusement. Paul was always aware of and sensitive to the needs and desires of others. Paul's passing evokes sorrow not only for his wife, family and friends, but also for others whose life he touched. Paul was a rare commodity, one of nature's nobleman and he will be sorely missed.
Dear Greeley Family, I am sorry to hear of Paul's passing. Paul was one of my very first supervisory auditors when I joined the GAO Boston Regional Office. He could not have been more welcoming, informative and instructive. He was highly regarded and it came as no surprise when he rose through the ranks. I moved on in my career but remember with fondness his valuable insights! With regrets, Ron Grenier

Dear Chris and Alyssa, This is such sad news and a loss. Paul accomplished much in his life. We have special respect for all that you and Paul accomplished on behalf of our West Yarmouth community. We are thinking of you all. With love, Arthur and Judy
