Arthur J. Andrews

Arthur J. Andrews, 87, of South Dennis passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, November 30, 2021. Born in Boston, MA Arthur (Butch) grew up in Watertown and South Boston, graduating from Gate of Heaven High School in 1953.

He attained his Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Northeastern University in 1958 and continued in Advanced Mathematics at MIT. Arthur joined the ROTC program at Northeastern, later becoming 2nd Lieutenant in the Army Corps of Engineers. While attending Northeastern he played in the “two fisted” Boston Park City League for the Chippewas who won the Park Title Game played at Fenway Park in 1954.

Through the co-op program at Northeastern Arthur worked for Raytheon Company in Burlington, MA for several years until joining Metal Bellows Corp in Sharon, MA as Chief Engineer. From there, he established his own Coupling Manufacturing Company in Fort Lauderdale, FL for several years. Following the successful venture, he joined Hoerbiger Corporation located in Florida as Chief Engineer and Quality Control Manager for twenty-five years. He is listed on several patents at Raytheon and Metal Bellows, and as the owner of several patents through his independent business. Returning to Massachusetts in 1998, he retired in Norwood and later moved to South Dennis, MA in 2012.

Arthur is survived by Ann, his loving wife of 58 years; his children Robert, Michelle, Lisa, Julie, and Steven; grandchildren Cassidy and Nicholas Plank and Connor Andrews; niece Janice and her husband Glen Harrington, and Debra and her husband Skip Sutherland. He was predeceased by his parents, Clyde V. Andrews and Marion Sullivan Andrews; brother C. Paul Andrews; and sister Patricia Linton.

Visitation will be held at Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Ave., South Yarmouth from 2:00pm to 5:00pm on Sunday, December 5, 2021. A Funeral Mass and celebration of life will take place on Monday, December 6, 2021 at 10:00am at St. Pius X Catholic Church, Station Ave., South Yarmouth, MA 02664, followed by a lunch reception. The burial will be private at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Alzheimer’s of Cape Cod or Beacon Hospice of Cape Cod are suggested.
