Salvatore V. Amato
Oct 20th, 2021
Salvatore V. Amato, 84 of Cape Cod, formerly of Medford, MA, passed away suddenly and peacefully surrounded by loved ones at Cape Cod Hospital on Wednesday, October 20, 2021.
Sal was the beloved son of the late Vincenzo and Anna Amato, brother of Mary Salvo, the late Josephine Amato Aloi Windsor, the late Christine Amato LoRusso, the late Leonard Amato and the late Phillip Amato. He was also Life Partner to the late George White.
He leaves behind and will be missed by so many lifelong friends, neighbors, nieces, nephews, and great nieces and great nephews. Sal will be dearly remembered by all as one of the most respected, caring, loving, generous, self-less and compassionate men known to us. As everyone who knew him will attest, he was an incredible cook, loved to travel the world, known for his exquisite dinner parties, always in search of a great antique and enjoyed a good game of tennis. He’s been a movie buff since he was a child when he would beg his parents for a nickel to go to the matinee. He treasured his family and friends and was the first to always lend a helping hand.
The world was a better place with Sal here and he will be truly missed by so many. Someone once said that we die twice: Once when we take our last breath and second when the last person we know mentions our name. Please tell your children and grandchildren about this great man. Rest in peace, Sal. We love you.
Visitation will be held in the Hallett Funeral Home 273 Station Avenue, South Yarmouth, MA on Saturday, October 30, 2021 from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M.. Prayers will follow at 11:00 A.M.. A private burial service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, it is requested that you donate to your favorite charity in his name.

Sal holds a special place in the hearts of many people who knew and loved him. I worked with Sal at a restaurant in HarwichPort years ago. I remember his kindness, wit, charm and caring attitude to both customers and staff. He gave me my first lesson in pasta making. That experience is still vivid today. He made everyone a better person. He will be missed by all of his lifelong friends. I offer my condolences to all who knew and loved him.
The Amato Family - I am so very sorry to learn of Sal's passing. Sal was our neighbor at the Cape. I will forever miss his smiling face and friendly hello every day in the summer at the Cape. Sal always had a kind word and wicked sense of humor. I will miss our text exchanges. Sal - You also made the best "stuffies"! You will be greatly missed. The neighborhood will not be the same. Peace to you Sal. - Warmly - Kelly Q.
I will miss you terribly dear, dear Sal. Fortunately we saw each other not too long ago and shared a post COVID hug and kiss. A large part of the time we were together was allegedly for discussing business but that topic went off the table quickly and we were off and running ,discussing “have you been to this xxx new restaurant!” or about the ole’ days of working in different restaurants that we, Bob, Tobin, Stephen, or others we know used to work in! On and on we went family, trips, movies, house upkeep and who was a good and fairly priced contractor, and of course the deals at the Habitat for Humanity that you not only checked out for yourself, but mostly items you knew we all needed or were looking for. Before you knew it 2 hours had gone by in a blink!! Sal , you were such a gentleman. Yes, you were a client, but to me you were much more, a friend. Rest In Peace sweet man- Donna
A light in our lives and one of the four that I love most is now gone, never to be replaced. Resquiescat in pace il nostra caro fratello. Siamo devastati dalla tua perdita.
