Patricia "Patty" (Harrison) Cavanaugh
Oct 7th, 2021
Patricia “Patty” (Harrison) Cavanaugh 70 of Yarmouth Port and formerly of Harwich died of a breakthrough COVID infection Thursday October 7, 2021 at Cape Cod Hospital.
For thirty-nine years she was the wife of George B. Cavanaugh.
Born in Brookline, Patty was the daughter of the late Frank and Celia (Foster) Harrison. She moved to Harwich when she was two months old and resided in Harwich until moving to Kings Way in Yarmouth Port in 2009. Patty was a 1969 graduate of Harwich High School and from UMass Amherst in 1973. She worked as an elementary school teacher at Harwich Elementary School until her retirement, and in retirement worked as a real estate broker in her Kings Way neighborhood.
All Patty wanted in life was to be a wife and mother, and then a grandmother. She was the best wife a man could hope for, and an amazing mother and grandmother as well. She adored her grandson, Griffin, beyond belief. She had a huge heart and would do anything for her friends and family.
In addition to her husband, Patty is survived by her two sons, Andrew of Dennis Port, and Craig and his wife, Morgan of Temecula, CA; a grandson, Griffin of Temecula, CA; her brother, Paul Harrison and his fiancée, Joan Zagrobelny both of Sandwich; two brothers-in–law, Neil Cavanaugh and his wife, Paula of Sandwich, and John Cavanaugh of Hyannis; two nieces; three nephews; two grandnieces; two grandnephews; numerous cousins, including Brian and Noreen McNeil, of Braintree; her godson, Brian McNeil, Jr., and his brother, Christopher; many close friends; and the granddaughter of her heart, Kenley Medeiros of Falmouth.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday October 16 in the Unitarian Church of Barnstable, 3330 Main St., Barnstable, MA 02630.
Visitation will precede the service beginning at 10 a.m. in the Church.
Patty will be interred in Woodside Cemetery, Yarmouth Port, at a later date.
As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the Family Pantry of Cape Cod, 133 Queen Anne Rd., Harwich, MA 02645.
