Eleni (Karantani) Theoharidis
Mar 23rd, 2025
Eleni (Karantani) Theoharidis, 81 of Dennis, Massachusetts passed away peacefully at home on March 23, 2025. She was born on March 5, 1944 in Peiraias Greece. Eleni is survived by her husband, Dionysios, her children Dennis Theoharidis and daughter Maria (George) Siopsis, sisters Styliani Kostaki and Chrysostomoula Psimoulaki, grandchildren Apostolos, Dionysios, Iasmi, Dennis, Michael and Andrew, goddaughter Vivian (Siempos) Haidas and many nieces and nephews.
Eleni was the second daughter of Ioakeim and Iasmi (Anagnostidi) Karantani. A child of Greek refugees from the island of Koutali (now Ekenlik) in the Sea of Marmara, she grew up in the Hatzikyriakeion neighborhood of Peiraias among many other Greek refugee families. In 1968, she married Dionysios Theoharidis and moved to Dennis.
In Dennis, Eleni built a family with devotion and formed lasting friendships. She lovingly raised two children and was a devoted spouse. She cared for aging family members, and was a special ‘thea’ to many nieces and nephews. After her beloved daughter-in-law, Grace (Nikiforakis) Theoharidis, passed away, Eleni stepped in to help raise her three grandchildren. Her home was their second home and she was always there whenever they needed her. Eleni played an integral role in the family rental business, learning accounting skills and managing the business with care and skill.
A talented cook, Eleni's hospitality knew no bounds. Her famous koulourakia were a staple on the kitchen table for visitors and frequently appeared in the children’s carpools. She was skilled in the art of handcrafts, including embroidery, knitting, crochet, and quilting—a testament to the traditions passed down by the women in her family.
Eleni’s kindness, generosity, and selflessness touched everyone who knew her. Her home was always warm and welcoming, and she seemed to have an innate ability to understand what others needed, giving freely of herself in every way. Eleni will be sorely missed by her family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Family and friends are invited to visit at the Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Ave., South Yarmouth, MA on Friday, March 28, 2025 from 4-7 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. in St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 1130 Falmouth Rd, Centerville, MA. Interment will follow in Ancient Cemetery, Yarmouth, MA.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to St. George Greek Orthodox Church.

In my time having the privilege to take care of Dionisi and getting to know Eleni I can say I was truly blessed. Eleni was like the grandmother I never had,she was a wonderful woman a selfless soul, and always had a beautiful smile no matter how she was feeling inside. She would always especially light up when her son Dennis would come by,or when her daughter would call and Especially when I would walk around the house with her and she would SPEAK the names of all her grandchildren who she adored in the pictures around her house. My sincere condolences to her family and her loyal close friend Despina.❤️
such a great person always had smile and fun to be with. I looked forwarded in see her when I go to one of Dennis's family outings.
