Howard Shriver MacAyeal, 94, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones at Cape Cod Hospital on February 22, 2025, in Hyannis Massachusetts.

Howard was born on May 18,1930, in Akron Ohio to Eleanor Louise (Olmsted) and Robert Archie MacAyeal, where he spent his childhood before moving to Tiverton, Rhode Island. He graduated from B.M.C Durfee High School in 1948 and went on to study the humanities at Princeton University, graduating in 1952 with special commendations. He went on to Harvard University to earn his JD in 1952.

After working as a trial lawyer in Chicago, Howard turned his sites to international business in 1960. He joined the Eaton Corporation in 1964 and later became its Director of International Development. He went on to lead several international business organizations including Global Consulting, World Alliance Merchant Finance Company and China Trade Corporation most notably completing the financing of The Great Wall Hotel in Beijing in the late 1970’s. He was a true pioneer in global business development.

Howard retired to the Cape where he enjoyed writing short stories and novels about the many adventures he had accumulated across a life of many dimensions. He loved sailing, skiing and traveling and most notably enjoying the simple moments in life, hand in hand, with his dearest best friend and wife of 54 years, Patricia.

‍Howard is survived by his wife Patricia, his children: Douglas and his wife Linda, Jean, Heather and her partner Frank, his grandchildren: Leigh and her husband Ben, Hannah and her husband Shawn, Evan, Shannon and her partner Kevin, Tayler and  her partner Eli, Zachary and McKayla and his great grandchildren: Henry, Loxley and Tristan. He was predeceased by his twin brother Robert “Bobby”, elder brother John “Jack” and his son Berry.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
